On December 5, 2024, the 10th edition of the prestigious Data Protection Conference, titled “Key Data Protection Issues in 2024 and Challenges for 2025,” took place. Artur Piechocki<\/a> participated as an expert panelist in the discussion “Cybersecurity<\/a> and Data Protection<\/a> \u2013 Complementary or Separate Protection.”<\/p>\n

Hosted annually by BECK Academy, the conference brought together leading experts to explore the most pressing data protection challenges of the past year and the trends expected to shape the future.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The event featured four expert panels, covering:<\/p>\n

    \n
  • Panel I \u2013 Challenges for Data Protection in Poland and Globally, including a debate with former leaders of Poland\u2019s data protection authority (1998\u20132024),<\/li>\n
  • Panel II \u2013 Current Issues Around Consent for Data Processing and the future of consent as a legal basis,<\/li>\n
  • Panel III \u2013 The AI Act and GDPR \u2013 interactions and implications for data protection obligations,<\/li>\n
  • Panel IV \u2013 Cybersecurity and Data Protection \u2013 Complementary or Separate Protection.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Artur Piechocki<\/span><\/span> spoke during Panel IV, engaging with other experts on key topics such as:<\/p>\n

      \n
    • the impact of changes in the National Cybersecurity System (NIS2) on data protection,<\/li>\n
    • information security management and GDPR compliance frameworks,<\/li>\n
    • incident reporting and management under GDPR and NIS2\/UKSC regimes,<\/li>\n
    • planned new institutions under NIS2, including high-risk providers and protective orders,<\/li>\n
    • the interplay between network traffic analysis and GDPR requirements,<\/li>\n
    • cooperation between the Polish Data Protection Authority (UODO) and cybersecurity authorities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Following the panel discussions, attendees were invited to a networking cocktail.<\/p>\n

      The conference was organized in partnership with SABI \u2013 Stowarzyszenie Inspektor\u00f3w Ochrony Danych and Stowarzyszenie Prawa Nowych Technologii (SPNT).
