Artur Piechocki

Legal advisor with 20 years’ experience, admitted to the Warsaw Bar of Legal Advisors. Graduated from the Faculty of Law at the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań. Artur specializes in information and communication technology law (ICT). He advises clients from the Internet and telecommunication sectors, particularly on telecommunication services, e-commerce, data security and internet domains.

Artur is an expert at the European Network and Information Security Agency (ENISA) in regulatory, privacy and data protection. He is a member of the Council at the Internet Domain Court of Arbitration at the Polish Chamber of Information Technology and Telecommunications (PIIT). He cooperates with the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and in the past has cooperated with the Council of European National Top Level Domain Registries (CENTR). He is an active participant in International Telecommunication Union (ITU) meetings and counsel to the Cyber Security Foundation. He was also a member of the Telecommunication Operators Group and the E-Media Committee at The Polish Chamber of Information Technology and Telecommunications (PIIT). He is also a co-founder of the Domain Names Arbitration Court at PIIT, where he headed the legal works and a co-founder of domain case law at the Arbitration Court at the Polish Chamber of Commerce (KIG). Artur cooperates with the Foundation for Cybersecurity and the Kościuszko Institute in Kraków on a daily basis.

Previously, Artur worked as a general legal counsel at the Research and Academic Computer Network (NASK), representing the PL Register in Poland and international organizations.

Artur is the author of numerous speeches, panel sessions, seminars and publications in Poland and abroad, mainly focusing on new technologies law including internet domain names, telecommunications law and IP protection. He has many years of expertise in relations with international organisations, for whom he has prepared studies and reports as well as verifying documents. He has participated in ongoing projects of working groups.

Magdalena Pohoryło

Magdalena Pohoryło

Lawyer, philologist, translator of Spanish and Russian.

Magda specialises in representing clients from Spain, Latin America and the countries of the former USSR. Previously she was a lawyer at one of the largest Polish law firms and at an international law firm, where she focused on corporate and commercial law, including preparation of corporate and real estate due diligence audits, preparation of lease agreements for wind farms, as well as advising on M&A transactions, SEE investments and labour law.

Magda graduated from the Spanish Philology Faculty at the Minsk State Linguistic University (Belarus) and the Faculty of Law at the Catholic University in Lublin. She has also completed post-graduate studies in Spanish Law at the University of Warsaw. She is currently completing her doctoral studies at the Faculty of Law of the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAN).

For many years she has been an associate at the Faculty of Applied Linguistics at the University of Warsaw, where she lectures in analysis of legal discourse (Polish-Spanish).

She is the author of numerous speeches and publications, particularly related to Spanish and Argentinian markets and the countries of the former USSR.

Marcel Góra

Marcel Góra

Legal advisor admitted to the Cracow Bar of Legal Advisors. Graduated from the master and doctorate studies at the Faculty of Law and Administration at the Jagiellonian University in Cracow. Participant of numerous seminars relating to the new technologies and intellectual property law. Currently Marcel has prepared his doctorate thesis relating to the EU law. Moreover he specialises in medical and pharmaceutical law, as well as personal data and privacy protection.

He is an author of many legal publications and presentations.

He has a wide experience gained from the top Cracow law firms as well as from the in-house team of the company from the energy sector listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange which is one of the largest capital groups in Poland.

He has advised on corporate law, he has participated in numerous due diligence audits and he was a member of the team that prepared and supervised the M&A transactions. Moreover Marcel participated in projects directly connected with the intellectual property law. He is experienced in patent and trademark registration in Poland and abroad, in front of the United States Patent and Trademark Office and World Intellectual Property Organization, among others. He is also experienced in civil law and dispute resolution.

Dr Ireneusz Matusiak

Legal advisor admitted to the Warsaw Bar of Legal Advisors. Graduated from the master and doctorate studies at the Faculty of Law and Administration at the University of Warsaw.

President of the Arbitration Court for the Internet Domains at the Polish Chamber of Information Technologies and Telecommunication (PIIT). Arbitrator at the Consumers Arbitration Court at the President of the Office of Electronic Communications (UKE).

Ireneusz specializes in intellectual and industrial property law, particularly in IT and media sectors focusing on video games and computer programmes. Moreover, he advises on copyright law, new technology law (including supervision of the IT software implementation), personal goods protection, press law and medical law.

He frequently represents clients in disputes concerning civil and economic law in front of the common courts, Supreme Court and administrative courts in terms of intellectual property (trademark, licence or patent infringement), internet domain names, unfair competition, copyright law, IT projects implementation, new technology law (including video games) and medical proceedings.

He is a representative of the Polish Association for the Producers and Distributors of the Entertainment Software (SPIDOR) on works under the auspices of the Legal Affairs/Anti-Piracy Committe ISFE (Interactive Software Federation of Europe).

He is a laureate of the first prize for the best doctoral thesis according to the Polish Patent Office (UP RP) in 2013. Additionally, he is a laureate of the 13th edition of the award founded by the Polish Chamber of the Information Technologies and Telecommunication for the successful presidency of the Arbitration Court for Internet Domains at PIIT in 2015.

He is an author of numerous publications and lectures on intellectual property, industrial property and arbititration law. He is an author of the monography “Video games as a subject to copyright law” (Wolters Kluwer, 2013), a co-author of the commentary „Press law. Dispute proceedings in the press law” (C.H. Beck, 2017) and a co-author of the commentary „Copyright law and certain rights act” (C.H. Beck, 2017).

Daniel Siciński

Daniel Siciński, LLM

Participant of the second year of the application at the Warsaw Bar of Legal Advisors. Graduate from the Faculty of Law and Administration at the University of Łódź and the postgraduate studies at the American Law School under the auspices of the University of Warsaw, and the postgraduate studies New Technology Law organised by the Koźmiński University. He also completed his postgraduate studies of IT Law at the University of Tartu, Estonia (LLM).

Daniel specializes in civil law and dispute resolution. He also focuses on intellectual property law, new technology law as well as personal data and privacy protection.

Before joining APLAW Daniel gained his experience in a legal department of one of the largest Polish insurance companies, and in the Polish law firms, among others.

Monika Mirtchanov

Lawyer, tax advisor. Owner of ExpaTax. Monika graduated from the Management Faculty of Warsaw University. She is a licensed tax advisor and member of Association of Polish Tax Advisors.

Monika has over 20-years’ experience in tax advisory services. She specializes in global mobility – personal income tax, payroll, social security and labour law issues as well as immigration services. Prior establishing Expatax in 2008, a boutique firm that focused exclusively on expatriates and foreign nationals, she was leading the Global Employment Services Group at Deloitte. She also worked at the tax departments of KPMG and PriceWaterhouseCoopers (PwC).

Katarzyna Gorzkowska

Katarzyna Gorzkowska

Lawyer.  Graduate from the Faculty of Law at the Lazarski University in Warsaw and post-graduate studies in the Law of the European Union at University of Warsaw. She also completed the School of Intellectual Property Rights organised by the Intellectual Property Rights Center H. Grocjusz, mediation trainings and international trainings in the field of organization and CSR management. Currently, during post-graduate studies in the field of personal data protection and classified information.

Katarzyna specializes in the law of new technologies, in particular blockchain technology. She deals with intellectual property law, protection of personal data, civil and commercial law. She advises business entities and non-governmental organizations. Katarzyna participates in project implementations in the FinTech and blockchain sectors.

Author of scientific publications. Member of the FONTES Association for Research on Sources and Functions.

Karolina Król

Junior lawyer. Graduate of the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Warsaw. Board member of the Intellectual Property Students’ Research Cycle at the University of Warsaw whose main goal is to educate people in terms of IP/IT law. She gained international diplomas: Computer Science 101 awarded by the Stanford University and Elements of Artificial Intelligence awarded by the University of Helsinki.

She deals with privacy and personal data protection issues, and she participates in projects regarding RODO compliance (GDPR) as well as new technologies.

She is an author of articles concerning GDPR and PSD2 published in Rzeczpospolita and Dziennik Gazeta Prawna.
