APLAW for students: a meeting with Artur Piechocki at the University of Warsaw

In collaboration with the Student Government Practice Committee of the Faculty of Law and Administration at the University of Warsaw and the New Technology Law Student Society, we invited law students and graduates to an engaging session with attorney-at-law Artur Piechocki titled: “Cybersecurity in law.”

The event took place on November 26, 2024, at 8:15 PM at the Faculty of Law and Administration, University of Warsaw, Collegium Iuridicum II (4 Lipowa Street, Warsaw), Room 1.4.

Cybersecurity was one of the most pressing issues at the time—not only for businesses and large corporations but across all aspects of modern life. As digital transformation continued to reshape the world, cybersecurity and data protection became critical concerns.

During the session, Artur Piechocki explored key topics, including:

• the lawyer’s role in mitigating cyber threats, from phishing and ransomware to DDoS attacks,
• legal accountability for cybersecurity breaches and the consequences of cyberattacks,
• legal services needed by businesses to strengthen cybersecurity,
• the intersection of law and technology and whether legislation kept pace with digital challenges,
• emerging regulatory changes in cybersecurity and their implications for legal practitioners,
• career prospects in cybersecurity law and pathways for lawyers in this evolving field.

The meeting provided a unique opportunity to learn from an experienced expert how to expand knowledge in cybersecurity and technology law and apply it in professional practice.

Participation was especially encouraged for law and administration students and graduates interested in cybersecurity and the legal aspects of emerging technologies.
