APLaw’s specialists in AI law, data protection and cybersecurity — Artur Piechocki and Natalia Polańska — delivered a training session titled „What’s Allowed and What’s Not? Best Practices in Prompting and Legal Research.” The session formed part of the Legal AI Academy organised by Wolters Kluwer, a webinar series designed to support legal professionals in using AI tools safely and responsibly.
AI has become a routine part of everyday work for many professionals, supporting tasks ranging from streamlining law firm processes and analysing documents to drafting content. At the same time, the pace of digital transformation has required lawyers to remain vigilant and effectively manage emerging risks.
During the training, participants learned how to use AI tools responsibly while safeguarding data, professional confidentiality and client interests. Artur Piechocki and Natalia Polańska discussed the most significant cybersecurity threats, the risks associated with careless use of generative AI models, and practical methods for minimising potential harm.
The agenda covered key cyber risks and the principles of safe use of digital tools. Participants gained insight into the main challenges connected with AI systems and ways to mitigate them, the rules governing personal data processing when using AI tools, as well as copyright considerations and trade secret protection. The session concluded with practical recommendations for the secure use of AI technologies. Attendees also learned which risks required particular attention, what types of data should never be entered into AI systems, and how to anonymise information effectively. The training additionally highlighted essential principles for using generative AI safely, responsibly and in compliance with the law.
The training was addressed to attorneys-at-law, advocates, judges and law firm owners. Trainee lawyers, law students and individuals interested in using AI technologies in an informed and secure manner also benefited from the session.
The webinar took place on 21 January at 3:00 PM in an online format hosted on the Wolters Kluwer platform.
